A hand made wooden mallet with a hand forged and water quenched hammer shaft with awl tip based on the Find from medieval Novgorod in Russia, based on the find from Kirovsky district dated to the 14-15th century presumed use in roofing as the awl may have been used to drill the roof for shingles. the wooden mallet is nominally 5cm 2" diameter with the shaft hammered onto the mallet head. made in sheffield england by daegrad tools
