a hand forged medieval style rush light holder for living history re-enactment use only. nominally 8" tall, based on a Russian Svtetz, designed for holding a rushlight or Luchina; a small sliver of wood dipped in animal fat as shown in the photo (not included in the sale), supplied with a wooden pine base traditionally a saucer of water was placed under the splint or rushlight to catch falling embers. never leave naked flames unattended and always observe caution when using naked flames in a living history context.
