a Roman Army centurion's writing set containing 4 cedar wood writing tablets based on the find from vindolanda, constructed as the original and supplied as two sets of two, originally they would have been a 18x8cm strip cut down the middle and folded and secured on the holes and notches, this set come pre cut, each tablet is nominally 9x8cm , each tablet is treated with danish oil to retard ink run and are designed to use modern dip inks, also suplied is one reed style dip pen or calamus which has been tested for functionality to ensure smooth writing, you are also supplied with one test piece of treated cedar wood (shown with the roman alphabet 1st century) supplied unused and 120cm of linen thread for wrapping and securing the tablet, the example photo shows a wrapped tablet sealed with sealing wax as an example only and is not supplied, for anyone interested in Roman living history re-enactment use.
