a hand forged and water quenched S275JR steel one piece saw of the Roman period, hand cut blade designed for hand sharpening. based on the Curved blade BoE; SAW20 (BoE199) from the Bank of England, this saw does not have a set and cuts a slot thinner than the back blade so it will bind, given the design it is likely to be a bone and antler working saw or possibly a pruning saw as in bone and antler working the material is partially cut through and snapped off. if used with a side to side cutting motion it will cut a slot wider than the back (as bone examples attest to). one off item only, made in Sheffield England by Daegrad Tools, nominally 8-10 TPI
